Early Fall Trip. This was the night after the full moom and we hoped to see the moon rise as we sailed. Due to cloud cover we did not see the moon during the sail. It did make an appearance later in the night and a photo was captured from the top deck of David Rossi's trawler as the after sail party continued well into the wee hours of the morning. During the trip we motored south to the Verrazano Bridge and motor sailed home to Jersey City.
Are we having fun?
Karen started at the wheel, but let some others take a turn.

The moon finally made an appearance about 9:00PM.
Possible Winter Projects:
You know - none of this makes the boat sail any better.....
Last Trip of 2010
It was November 20th, a Saturday night at 6:30PM when we left the dock in Jersey City under a full moon. Our destination was Petersen's Boatyard in West Nyack - some 30 miles up the Hudson River.
Underway we kept warm with hot cider, grilled tuna sandwiches and hot soup.
The wind started from the NW and we hoped to sail a bit, but soon was right on our nose, so we motored into 15kt winds most of the way.
By 10:30PM we were just south of Petersen's Boatyard and dropped a hook for the night.
We threw some logs in Sail La Vie's fireplace and had some more hot cider - this time with spiced rum -that kept us warm for the night!
We slept-in at our anchorage Sunday morning and got to the dock about 10:00AM. Here our crew removed all the essentials from the boat.
Karen drove to West Nyack to pick up up the crew and we had an assembly line going to unload the boat.

And so it is with some sadness that another sailing season has come to an end as we leave Sail La Vie to be put up for the winter.
Happily, as my friend Kevin pointed out - the winter is a time to reflect on this year and PLAN all the projects and trips for next year.
