April 11th, 2009
It was a chilly day and rained till late afternoon; but hey lets go sailing. We fought a 5 kt current and headwinds as we tacked up the Hudson trying all the sail combinations; reefed main with cutter sail, add the jib, take down the cutter, shake out the reef & heave-to. We were making some progress till the wind dropped and we were loosing headway as the current swept out to sea. It was a good day experimenting.
Overnight to Sandy Hook: June 5, 6 2009
Steve and Diego take trip to anchor out overnight behind Sandy Hook in Lower New York Bay. Leaving friday night as a day of rain is ending the radar, chartpotter and autopilot prove to be great tools.
Saturday on the way back we pass under the Verazanno Bridge.
Passing the Statue of Liberty.
Steve at the wheel. I love the new autoilot.
Upcoming Trips:
Fourth of July trip to Haverstraw.
Atlantic City Rendezvous..... and trip to Barneget Bay
April 27, 2009. An Evening Trip.

Going over safety before we leave the dock. Seth, pictured in the life vest, was in charge of the horn - three short blasts for astern propulsion.
Remember the three Rules:
Keep the water out.
Keep the people in.
Don't hit anything!

Underway. Seth with mother, Liz.

Seth and Issac. Issac was in charge of the jib sheet. Remember it goes on the winch clockwise.

Javier "drives" the boat. It was a downwind leg with 5 kts of wind. He held a good course and kept the jib filled nicely.
Diego at the wheel taking us out as Carolina looks out for boat traffic.
