Sail La Vie spent most of the month of August at Lockwood Boatworks in South Amboy, NJ. This was a planned visit for new bottom paint and have the engine inspected.
Sail La Vie is and older boat and the stay has been extended to replace the centerboard pins. Since this is an older boat, parts are not available. So, the new pins and shoulders are being fabricated by Lockwood. The shoulders holding the pin as well as the centerboard were also in some state of distress, so there is some glass work involved.
Centerboard work.
Cracking of the centerboard will require some grinding and glass work.
Karen holds the shoulder for the main centerboard showing the corrosion completely through at one location.
While at Lockwood Boatworks, Gioia Sails delivered the completed cushions for the saloon and settee. They fit just right and look great.
We also have our new cockpit cushions that were delivered while in Brick complete with storage bags, so Sail La Vie will be very comfortable this fall.
The Engine
The engine is all apart, with various parts on different workbenches at the boatworks.
We are looking forward to having the engine re-assembled and running. Hopefully, without the loss of oil we previously had, at cooler temperatures and with a working tachometer and engine hour meter.
