We spent the fouth of July in Jersey City.  In the afternoon we took a short excursion to the East River to see the waterfalls then a return trip by the Statue of Liberty.  Dave and Dan in front of the Manhattan waterfall.

George and Renee visited to watch the fireworks.  With low cloud cover and the smoke from the fireworks blowing toward us they were not that impressive.  Next year we'll have to watch them from the water.  George, Karen and Dan waiting for the fireworks to start.

It was Steve's and Susan's birthday..  Karen made her infamous Jello Cake!  (This is her once a year cake - the one she made Steve the first year they met, over thirty years ago.  Steve, Renee and Janet with the remains of the birthday cake in the foreground.

The party went well into the evening.

BACK AT THE DOCK:  All afternoon it threatened to rain while we were on the water.  Dave's prediction was for the raoin to start at 5:30 PM.  We arrived back at the dock at 5:10 and the sky opened up.

The dodger is still at the sailmakers so we put up a temporary tarp.
